Under läsningen av Arthur Lovejoys idéhistoriska The Great Chain of Being (1936), stöter jag i en fotnot (s. 360) på en boktitel från 1770 som väl slår alla rekord:

A Philosophical Survey of the Animal Kingdom, wherein The general Devastation and Carnage that reign among the different Classes of Animals are considered in a new Point of View; and the vast Increase of Life and Enjoyment derived to the Whole from this Institution of Nature is clearly demonstrated.
